What Happens During a Root Canal?
Root canal treatment is the treatment that we typically recommend on adult teeth that are infected. This occurs when either decay or damage has made way for bacteria to reach the inner chamber of your child’s tooth, allowing them to attack the vulnerable and sensitive pulp and eventually kill the tooth’s nerves. We can refer your child or teen out to a specialist to ensure they get the top-tier care they deserve.
What is Pulp Therapy?
Pulp therapy, sometimes referred to as pulpotomy, is similar in nature to root canal treatment, but this procedure is recommended for baby (primary) teeth. Instead of removing the entire pulp within the tooth, Dr. Miner will only remove a portion, leaving the healthy tissue and nerves behind to heal. This treatment also erases pain as well as keeps the infection from spreading, allowing your child to enjoy their natural smile until the tooth falls out on its own to make way for the permanent one to grow in.
