Dental Checkups & Cleanings

The key to a healthy smile is bringing your child in every six months for routine checkups and cleanings with our team. As an infant, this can look like lap exams and brushing your child’s teeth or cleaning their gums; however, as they get older, our team will be more thorough. In any case, you can always count on us being observant of your child’s comfort level, patient, and sensitive to their needs at any given moment. We want to ensure that these regular appointments are positive and fruitful for everyone!

Fluoride Treatment

We can apply fluoride to your child’s teeth after their routine cleanings to help strengthen their outer protective layer, called the enamel. The enamel acts as a strong defense system against cavities when it isn’t eroded or weakened, so our goal is to help fortify it with fluoride so it can continue to do its job! We also offer silver diamine fluoride treatment, which we can use to treat the early signs of decay as well as protect against future threats. Both of these treatments are quick, easy, and 100 percent comfortable!

Athletic Mouthguards/ Sportsguards

Does your child participate in a local sports league or their school’s athletics team? Consider investing in an effective, custom-crafted mouthguard for them to wear to protect their smile. That way, if an accident happens on the field or court, you won’t have to worry about having to bring them in for an unexpected dental emergency.

Thumb-Sucking/ Thrusting Care

As your child gets a little older, it’ll be important to begin providing them with the tools they need to break thumb-sucking and thrusting habits, also referred to as non-nutritive habits. Our team can help provide you with tips and tricks to cease these habits. The constant suction and force caused by them can lead to orthodontic issues as your child gets older by affecting the position in which their teeth grow in.

Lip-Tie Treatment

Today, many parents know to keep an eye out for signs of a lip-tie in their infants. In fact, the signs are most noticeable whenever infants breast or bottle feed, and it can lead to frustrated parents as well as developmental concerns like low weight gain. Dr. Miner can screen your child for lip-ties and evaluate their need for a frenectomy. If one is recommended, we can complete the procedure in-house using our AMD Picasso soft tissue dental laser, which is a fast, gentle, and precise treatment method!
